People Who Spent $150 To Buy Tesla’s Cybertruck Beer Complain About Awful Taste And Rusty Caps

At first glance, Elon Musk isn’t the kind of guy who needs to pursue a side hustle when you consider how much he has on his plate (and how much money he has), but that didn’t stop him from deciding to attempt to promote the Cybertruck with a beer inspired by the divisive vehicle. However, some people who shelled out $150 for the right to purchase that beverage have some regrets.

When you consider Elon Musk has an instrumental role in day-to-day operations at Tesla, SpaceX, and the company I refuse to stop referring to as Twitter, it’s kind of hard to fathom why one of the richest people on the planet has a tendency to focus on quirky side projects.

With that said, his decision to sell flamethrowers to raise funds for his tunneling project seemed to work out pretty well when you consider they allegedly generated $10 million in revenue, and while it’s unclear how much he made by selling bottles of Tesla-inspired tequila for $250 a pop, they nonetheless sold out thanks his loyal legion of fans.

It’s been four years since Musk announced Tesla was gearing up to release the Cybertruck, which (depending on who you ask) is a glimpse at the future of transportation or a boxy metal monstrosity that has absolutely no reason to exist.

Those vehicles will supposedly start hitting the streets by the end of 2023, and earlier this year, Tesla geared up for the release by dropping a beer inspired by the Cybertruck. It cost $150 to get your hands on two 330 ml bottles accompanied by a couple of “CyberSteins,” and plenty of people were apparently more than happy to pay that steep price when you consider the inventory was quickly exhausted.

It’s safe to assume many people viewed the beer as a collector’s item, but some buyers who’ve decided to give it a taste seem to be less than thrilled about the end result.

Earlier this week, one man posted a picture of a bottle with a rusty cap while describing the “Cyberbeer” itself as “hot garbage,” while another observed it tasted “like something I’m gonna get alcohol poisoning from.”

It’s worth noting the beverage has gotten some slightly more positive feedback on Untappd, although there’s a relatively small sample size and the rating is likely skewed a bit by people who aren’t going to go out of their way to admit they dropped $150 on a drain pour.
