It’s been a rough (relatively, of course) six months or so for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, as the failings of Black Adam and the subsequent shuttering of the DCEU were unfairly attributed to him and his ambitions. His sales pitch line, “The hierarchy of power in the DCEU is about to change,” even turned into a meme.

In hindsight, though Black Adam wound up making more money than the two-Batman-featuring The Flash, while his attempt to loop Henry Cavill’s Superman back into the franchise was something that fans had been asking for for years.

Nevertheless, The Rock’s “brand” probably found itself at its lowest point that it’s been in YEARS over the last year or so. Given how truly decent of a guy he seems to be, though, that certainly won’t last long.

According to SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union that’s currently striking against the studios, The Rock has donated a seven-figure sum to the organization, which is the largest amount they’ve ever received from one person at a single time.

“It was a love fest. It’s like, ‘Man, you’re stepping up in a way that is allowing others to know the dire necessity of it,’” Vance told Variety about his conversation with Johnson.

“This is him saying, ‘In such a time as this, I’m here and I’m not going anywhere, whatever you need me to do.’ And that sends a huge message to other folks to do the same thing.”

It’s estimated that The Rock’s donation, which has not been disclosed, will provide aid to thousands of actors amidst the strike.

While The Rock has become a business unto himself in recent years, the fact remains that he’s always been regarded as a team player that looks out for the little guy, which is a sentiment that will only be reinforced due to his donation to SAG-AFTRA.
