We’ve all seen it and we’ve all cringed, but it’s just one of those facts of life that at some point along the way guys go from dancing like normal human beings to something we affectionately call “dad dancing.”

I don’t know if guys just reach a point where they DGAF anymore that causes this phenomenon to take place or if it’s some kind of mental or chemical imbalance that strikes a man at certain age where he completely loses any and all rhythm. I just know that it happens.

And now, thanks to research involving 2,000 adults, commissioned to launch Twirlywoos Dad Dancer of the Year, we can officially pinpoint at what age we can expect this transformation to take place.

And that age is…37.

Their research also uncovered the fact that “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees is the number one dad dancing song, followed by Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” and “Waterloo” by Abba.

The YMCA, Night Fever and air guitar are the moves most commonly used by dads, along with the conga, twist and shout and greased lightning.

Also, according to the results of this poll, thirty-seven per cent revealed they have been embarrassed by their dad’s moves on the dance floor with 30% of them believing that their dad has danced badly on purpose just to embarrass them.

Age 13 was discovered to be the age where our dad’s dancing becomes embarrassing, however around age 30 it eventually becomes endearing.

They even compiled a Top 40 list of the most popular dad dancing songs…
