Get Ready For Old Deities And New To Battle In The Highly Anticipated New TV Show ‘American Gods’

People are getting extremely excited about the TV adaptation of author Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel American Gods. The book spun together ancient and modern mythology in one battleground between the old gods and the new. The trailer for the TV show based on the book was released at the San Diego Comic-Con and it looks worthy of the hype.

Here’s the official synopsis for American Gods:

American Gods been translated into over 30 languages and earned numerous accolades including Hugo, Nebula and Bram Stoker Awards for Best Novel. The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

Shadow Moon, played by Rick Whittle, is an ex-convict protecting one of the gods, Mr. Wednesday, played by Ian McShane. The show features an all-star cast with the likes of Gillian Anderson, Cloris Leachman, Orlando Jones, Kristin Chenoweth, Crispin Glover, and Dane Cook.

The sets look spellbinding thanks to co-showrunner Bryan Fuller, who did the same for Hannibal and Pushing Daisies.

There is no official release date for American Gods, but it is slated to appear on Starz in 2017.
