In one of the most important presentations of E3 2017, Microsoft finally unveiled their newest gaming system – the Xbox One X. Previously, it was only known as the Scorpio project, but as of Sunday, the superchareged Xbox One has been unleashed on the world.
Microsoft is billing their Xbox One X as “the most powerful console ever made,” and the hardware specifications certainly make a case for those lofty declarations. Xbox One X has six teraflops of computing power compared to the PS4 Pro with 4.2 teraflops and it also provides 12 GB of GDDR5 RAM and runs at 1172MHz,comapred to Xbox One’s 853MHz. Xbox One X hopes to deliver native 4K graphics at 60 frames per second. Even with all that power, the Xbox One X is the smallest Xbox ever and utilizes liquid-cooled vapor-chamber cooling. The system will offer a 1TB hard drive, which some consider to be “too small” for a “premium” console. Microsoft utilized Forza Motorsport 7 to flaunt the high-performance console’s 4K and 60 FPS abilities.
As far as the release date, Xbox One X drops on November 7, 2017. The price tag for the Xbox One X will be $499, which compares fairly well to PlayStation 3’s $600 80GB console back in 2006. The Xbox One X will play Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles and Xbox One games.
Microsoft has 22 “console launch exclusives” arriving on the Xbox One X, including Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, and Forza Motorsport 7, which will debut on October 3rd and run at native 4K and 60FPS.
This comes a day after Microsoft announced that certain Xbox One bundles were discounted $50.
