This neo-noir erotic thriller follows Detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) as he investigates the murder of a rock star. The main suspect? Crime novelist Catherine Trammell (Stone), who engages Nick in a cat-and-mouse game/love affair filled with murder, lust, and twists and turns that you’ll never see coming.
And, of course, THAT one scene. This movie is now 30+ years old and it’s still a jaw-dropping scene.
Fun fact: Steven Spielberg saw Wayne Knight in this movie and cast him in Jurassic Park. See? Nobody cares. I will always stand by the opinion that Knight was one of the more underrated actors of the 1990s, but maybe that’s because I’m a diehard Seinfeld fan (“When you control the mail, you control…INFORMATION.”)
