How to make your own rye whiskey BBQ sauce

Celebrity chef Michael Symon has been giving meat masterclasses all summer thanks to Knob Creek. His latest tips are on how to make a homemade rye whiskey BBQ sauce that will kick up anything you throw on the grill.

Most people don’t realize just how ridiculously easy it is to make BBQ sauce. Regardless of whether you want it Texas or Kansas City style, you should try your hand at creating your own. I’d start with this one because A) You have instructions, and B) it contains whiskey. Those seem like strong selling points to me.

Knob Creek® Rye Brown Mustard & Malt Vinegar BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:
– 1 oz. Malt Vinegar
– 1 oz. Brown Sugar
– 1 oz. Knob Creek® Rye
– 2 oz. Brown Mustard
– 1 oz. Chipotle Adobo Puree

Preparation:
1. Heat vinegar, sugar and Knob Creek® Rye in saucepan until sugar is melted and the liquid is reduced by half
2. Remove liquid from heat and whisk in mustard and chipotle puree
3. Store in refrigerator and enjoy, can be stored for up to 1 month
