The Emmys, Puppeteers And ‘Bad Hombres’ All Have A+ Responses To Being Dragged Into The Presidential Debate

People had a lot of opinions, many of them really funny, during Wednesday night’s Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The topics that were brought up set a new standard for WTFuckery in a Presidential election.

The Emmys were brought up. Puppets trended on social media. And who will ever forget “bad hombres”?

The Emmys came into play when Hillary Clinton said during the Debate, “”When he gets sued for fraud and racketeering, he claims the court system and federal judge is against him. There was even a time when he didn’t get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row, and he started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged.”

To which Trump replied, “Should have gotten it.”

Back in 2012, Trump tweeted, “Amazing Race winning an Emmy again is a total joke. The Emmys have no credibility — no wonder the ratings are at record lows. The Emmys are all politics, that’s why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won — even though it should have many times over.” And he complained about it again in 2013 and 2014.

So what did The Television Academy have to say with regard to the Emmys being “rigged?”

Well played.

Another group that somehow got pulled into the debate were puppets when Clinton said that Putin would rather have Trump win “because he’d rather have a puppet as president of the United States.”

To which Trump memorably replied, more than once, “You’re the puppet.”

So what did puppeteers think of all the puppet-talk?

Death and Taxes reached out to Puppeteers of America to see how they felt about “puppet” being used as an insult during the Debate.

Their response? “Thank you for contacting Puppeteers of America. First, Mr. Putin is not a member of Puppeteers of America. Second, no further comment.”

Good to know.

As for those “bad hombres” it turns out that there is a web site, BadHombres.com, and thanks to Trump the site about blew up Wednesday night. No, it’s not a site about illegal immigrants, but rather it covers topics related to the American West.

Karl Franklin, the owner of the site, spoke to The Daily Dot after the Debate, and here’s what he said happened.

“After Trump mentioned Bad Hombres, holy crap, my site blew up, so much traffic it shut it down,” Franklin told the Daily Dot.

At 9:33pm MT, Bad Hombres was forced offline after receiving 1,043,000 hits within about a 15-minute span. His website host told him that the site’s counter kept resetting every 1 million hits, and that that likely happened at least six times.

Franklin finally got the site back up this morning, and he’s still getting around 5,7000 hits per hour. He also noted that the site received “thousands of hits from Russia last night. Gulp.”

So what did Mr. Franklin think about Trump using the term “bad hombres” in referring to his immigration plan?

“I thought Trump’s comment was a bit racial myself,” said Franklin. “I am not a Trump fan, well I guess you could say I am more of an anti-Trump fan than anything. As he says over and over so eloquently: ‘Wrong.’”

What a time to be alive, huh, folks?
