Strangers Buy Car For Texas Man Who Walked Miles In The Heat To Get To Work

Your feel good story of the day comes to us from the great state of Texas. That is where Justin Korva regularly walked three-miles each way to his job at Taco Casa in Rockwell, Texas. Many days Korva would face the long walk where he battled scorching temperatures above 90 degrees. One morning Andy Mitchell spotted young Justin walking to work so he gave him a lift. While on the drive to his place of employment, Korva explained that he doesn’t have a car and has to walk to work. Mitchell wasn’t about to let Korva walk to work.

Mitchell talked to Samee Dowlatshahi, the owner of a local pizza joint, and they placed a donation box for Justin. In less than 48 hours, the members of the community donated $5,500 in an effort to get Justin a car. Then Mitchell contacted the local car dealership then worked out a deal for a 2004 Toyota Camry, which was bought with the donation money. Andy presented Justin with not only a Toyota Camry, but also a year’s worth of insurance, and a $500 gas card.

“Instead of you walking to work buddy, you’re driving this car from now on,” Andy told Justin. “It’s paid for in full, all you’ve got to do is drive it.”

Andy posted on his Facebook: “I picked up my friend this morning walking to work. Today will be his last day to walk to work. I’m so thankful for everyone who has helped get this young man a car! As Wade Anders would say leave it better than you found it. Thank you Samee Dowlatshahi. This young man will be super happy after today.”

“I’m at work, I’m clocking out and I’m leaving,” Korva said. “And as I’m leaving, I just see all these people — I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ I wouldn’t think something like that would happen to me.”

“To all the people what say they want to work but can’t find a job or don’t have a vehicle, all I can say is you don’t want it bad enough,” Mitchell wrote on his Facebook.
