Promos Gone Wrong, Traumatizing Karaoke Songs, And The Best Moments From Season 1 Of ‘Not About Wrestling’

When I first launched the Not About Wrestling show, I made a promise to myself to be different than all of the other wrestling podcasts.

So I wrote down a few vague rules to follow for the show.

The first rule of the show is that the show really isn’t about wrestling.

Well, at least it wouldn’t always be about wrestling. I didn’t want a show discussing current storylines. I didn’t want to do best and worst recaps of weekly shows. I absolutely didn’t want to talk to professional wrestlers and fanboy into some Chris Farley Show type cosplay.

“Remember….remember that time you won the world title? That was awesome.”

The second rule was to ask questions that showed interest in performers as being human just like the rest of us.

The third rule was to have fun. If the podcast wasn’t fun, I’d stop immediately.

Well, the first season of the show has come and gone and I’m reflecting back on my rules.

First, I didn’t discuss much current stuff, never did show recaps, and only slipped into Chris Farley-mode a few times.

Second, I learned a great deal about the personal lives of these performers and writers.

I talked to both sides of Danhausen.

I relived childhood trauma with Dalton Castle.

MJF shared his hatred of doughnuts and Rosie O’Donnell.

PCO told me about the times he got his ass kicked as a kid and as a performer, Ken Anderson shared the story of reconnecting with his estranged father and Shaul Guerrero talked about living up to the family name.

And finally, I’m having the time of my life doing this podcast.

Here’s a compilation of the best moments from season one of Not About Wrestling, but before you listen or watch, please be sure to subscribe on iTunes and follow the show on Twitter and Instagram.

Season 2 kicks off this week with NWA World’s Champion Nick Aldis, the “Quintessential Stud Muffin” Joel Gertner, and a ton of other great guests coming soon.

And now ladies and gentleman, entering the podcast, hailing from several different places, weighing several different weights, these are the guests from season one of Not About Wrestling.
