49ers’ wide receiver Deebo Samuel recently cut short an interview after being repeatedly asked about the NFC Championship Game loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Samuel has been candid in sharing his opinions about the game throughout the offseason, but it seems the constant rehashing of the topic has worn thin on him.

The general consensus among 49ers players is that their loss in the championship game was largely due to a lack of a healthy quarterback.

Rookie Brock Purdy, who was thrust into the starting role due to injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow early in the game against the Eagles. His backup, Josh Johnson, also left the game with a concussion.

The absence of a healthy quarterback severely limited the 49ers’ passing game, and the Eagles capitalized on this advantage, winning the game 31-7 and securing a spot in the Super Bowl.

Samuel, known for his confidence, has consistently maintained that the outcome would have been different had Purdy remained healthy.

When asked if he believed the 49ers would have won by a double-digit margin had Purdy been able to throw the football, Deebo confidently responded, “Yeah, like we beat everybody else.”

Recently, during an interview on “The Zach Gelb Show,” Deebo Samuel was asked about those previous comments and whether he still stood by them. It was evident that the receiver was weary of discussing the topic and urged the host to move on, stating that it was old news.

While Samuel admitted to still believing in his previous statements, he made it clear that he didn’t want to dwell on the topic any further, saying, “I mean, I do, but I mean, that s— is like, we’re not gonna keep talking about it. I mean, I said what I said.”

When the topic shifted to the Philadelphia fans and the potential reception the 49ers might receive in that rematch, Samuel’s patience reached its limit.

Sensing the intention to provoke a reaction, he abruptly ended the interview, with a public relations representative assisting in concluding the conversation.

The sudden termination of the interview left host Zach Gelb displeased, expressing his frustration with Samuel’s unwillingness to answer a few more questions. He called the situation absurd and labeled it a joke, clearly disappointed by the unexpected turn of events.

While the exact reason for Samuel’s sensitivity toward the topic is unknown, it is evident that he has grown weary of discussing the 49ers NFC Championship Game loss against the Eagles.
