Aaron Rodgers is under contract with the New York Jets for the 2025 season but that’s no guarantee he’ll return. As Rodgers tells it, the ball seems to be in the court of team owner Woody Johnson.

During his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers said he met with Woody Johnson and his brother Christopher Johnson and indicated that his return to the team will hinge on whether or not the owners want to reunite.

In his first season as the Jets starting quarterback — he missed all of the 2023 season (except four snaps) due to an Achilles tear — Rodgers led to the team, which fired their head coach and general manager, to a 5-12 record.

“It’s gonna come down to the general manager and coach any myself and whether we all want to do a dance together or if it’s not in the cards,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show this week.

During the 2024 season, in which Rodgers started in all 17 games for the Jets, the 41-year-old Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The Jets are currently searching for both a new general manager and new head coach and have cast quite a wide net, as they’ve interviewed as they’ve interviewed 15 general manager candidates and 12 head coach candidates at the time of this writing.
