Aaron Rodgers is likely out for the entire season and Robert Griffin III made it abundantly clear that he is available should the New York Jets look to sign a veteran. He not-so-subtly pitched himself to the organization while flexing his NFL readiness on Tuesday morning.

Rodgers, who made his first start for his new team on Monday night, was out well before halftime. The 39-year-old quarterback went down with an injury on his first offensive possession of the year and was carted off of the field. Doctors immediately feared the worst.

As the evening went on, it became more and more clear that he will not see the field again in 2023. Close-up video of the incident appeared to show his achilles rupture.

That seems to be the consensus right now.

If that is the case, and Rodgers tore his achilles, he has a long recovery ahead of him and it paints a grim picture for his future. It also paints a grim picture for the Jets.

Zach Wilson was not supposed to start this year. Now he is the guy again.

The former No. 2 overall pick completed 14 of 21 passes for 140 yards with a touchdown and interception in a 22-16 overtime win last night. He was serviceable, but a few of his passes were especially terrible.

Now New York has a decision.

Will it stick with Wilson or sign a backup?

Is Robert Griffin III an option?

Joe Flacco, Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, Colt McCoy and Teddy Bridgewater are all out there as free agent options. As is RGIII.

The 33-year-old ESPN analyst has not played a down of football since 2020 but he’s still in playing shape. Or so he says.

Griffin was on Get Up! on Tuesday morning.

He spoke about about how there are a few available quarterbacks, but explained why bringing them might be considered a “distraction” for a team and its starter. And then he included himself in that list and essentially made a pitch for himself.

The odds of RGIII making a return to the gridiron with the Jets seems slim. Don’t rule it out, but you can go ahead and rule it out.

He just wanted to flex on everybody a little bit and float the idea of a return. Why not?
