There are a number of pro wrestlers who have permeated pop culture to the point where almost everybody knows their name,

There’s The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and even John Cena. But longtime wrestling fans will also remember WCW, WWE and now AEW star Sting as one of the all-time greats.

On Sunday, the 64-year-old, real name Steve Borden, finally closed the curtain on his legendary carer, and AEW sent him out in style with an iconic video package.

The video shows Sting sitting in an empty movie theater watching back his career, from his debut in WCW in 1987 to winning the AEW tag team titles alongside partner Darby Allin in 2023.

AEW producers then cut back to their Revolution pay-per-view, where Sting walked out for his final match alongside his sons Garrett and Steven.

In that match, the veteran left it all on the line, putting himself through both glass and tables as he and Allin retained the titles over The Young Bucks.

After the show went off the air, he addressed the live crowd in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“I just want this to be a night that wrestling fans will not forget,” he said. “The kind of wrestling that will be etched in your minds for years to come. And it is me that is saying this is a night that I will never forget.”

Of course, the tributes immediately came pouring in on social media.

“It’s been said that it is rare in this sport for an athlete to go out on their own terms. Rarer still to do so with the grace and integrity (and leaping off high stuff) that @Sting has had. An example to us all,” one fan tweeted.

“Last night was one of the best of my life. #ThankYouSting for everything. Thank you, @Sting, for letting me be just a small cheering voice for you in your last match. It was a night neither of us will ever forget,” said another.

It’s clear that the legendary wrestler is one that fans will not soon forget.
