Former LSU Tigers women’s basketball star Alexis Morris is not happy with the program following a loss to South Carolina in the SEC Tournament championship game. The guard blasted her old teammates for showing a lack of leadership on the court.

The comments came in response to not only that defeat at the hands of the Gamecocks but following an all-out melee that transpired just before the contest’s end.

With the Tigers trailing late, Flau’jae Johnson intentionally fouled MiLaysia Fulwiley as she made her way towards a fast break bucket. The foul set off a domino effect that ended with both benches clearing.

As South Carolina teammates came to celebrate with Fulwiley with a chance to add to the lead, a frustrated Johnson let her emotions get the best of her.

She threw an elbow to the face of a Gamecocks player before being shoved to the ground by 6-8 Kamilla Cardoso.

Sidelines soon emptied, resulting in a multitude of ejections for both sides.

Flau’jae Johnson apologized to Dawn Staley after the fact, which was more than her head coach offered, easing tensions after what was a chippy on-court battle.

The ugly scene sparked that reply from their former teammate.

Alexis Morris called LSU out for a lack of leadership.

She took a swing at Johnson, Angel Reese, Hailey Van Lith, and any other upperclassman that failed to set the example in the SEC title loss.

Taking to social media, Morris blasted LSU for not having a leader, while also saying they’ve been scared to play South Carolina in the past.

“You see what I did to South Carolina last year by myself,” she led her rant off. “My team wasn’t ready; I can say it now. I played against South Carolina last year by myself. My team was scared.

“Either way it goes, that [brawl] would not have happened, you’ve got to have a leader on the court. We don’t have a leader on the court to be like, ‘Hey, we’re not about to engage, we’re not about to initiate, we’re not about to start any type of confrontation.'”

Morris alludes to her performance in a 24-point loss to the Gamecocks.

Playing nearly every minute in the contest, she posted a team-high 23 points while accounting for more than 40% of LSU’s made baskets.

That message differs greatly from the one sent in Angel Reese’s postgame.

“We’re not scared of South Carolina, and I’m going to repeat that, we’re not scared of South Carolina.”

Morris was frustrated with the way the SEC Tournament ended, as were many on that LSU side. Luckily for the Tigers, there’s still a chance to make another NCAA Tournament run while defending last year’s national title.

We’ll see if Morris’s words have any impact.
