Arch Manning’s future standing on the Texas Longhorns’ depth chart is unclear as his first season of college football comes to a close. The five-star freshman, who carries the most famous last name in sports, will take a redshirt year in 2023.

From there, the path to playing time is completely up in the air.

With that being the case, controversial Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett is actively recruiting Manning to hit the transfer portal and join the Buckeyes. His pitch came shortly after the loss to Michigan.

Come on Dawg…. Get in that transfer portal. We will have your whole life turnt up. I know your whole family paid but ain’t nothing like being a star at an elite school. Quinn Ewers ain’t going nowhere soon.
@peytonmanning @archmanning think about it big dawg.

Will Arch Manning transfer?

Manning saw his first live action in a blowout win over Texas Tech on Friday and looked impressive during a few short drives during the fourth quarter. However, that will likely be his only snaps of the fall.

Texas will play Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. Quinn Ewers will be the starter, as has been the case all season. Should he get injured again, Maalik Murphy is the backup.

Arch Manning is the third-string quarterback. That has not changed over the course of the regular season. That will not change for the Big 12 title game, the bowl game, or the College Football Playoff.

The question for Manning is in regard to his future.

Ewers is likely coming back. Murphy may or may not stay.

Is Manning okay with sitting at least one more year? His grandfather says yes. It would be a big surprise if the first grandson of football was to leave Austin during the offseason.

Maurice Clarett doesn’t care.

He shot his shot anyway!

The 40-year-old former running back was one of the best players in Ohio State history.

However, after being named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and winning a BCS National Championship in 2002, Clarett was dismissed from the program after several troubling incidents in Columbus.

That led to an unprecedented legal push to change the rules of NFL Draft eligibility. He was drafted in the third round in 2005, but showed up to training camp at 248 pounds and was later released.

Clarett has battled depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction since as early as his first year of college. He was arrested multiple times after his NFL career tanked, which led him to spend time in prison.

Fortunately, Clarett has since turned his life around and serves as a story of redemption!

Clarett set out to do so while serving his sentence.

Understand my struggle so you can respect my hustle. I am never coming back here, believe that. Never, I am cool on this. It is first-class living from the day I get out. I WILL NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS, EVER AGAIN. That goes for communication, personal relationships, housing, education, friendships, and travel arrangements. Everything. I have the fire in my eyes.

The Ohio-native has since become an advocate for mental health and often speaks at prisons and juvenile detention facilities. His efforts extend to local youth in the Buckeye State.

Professionally, Clarett has built an impressive career in behavioral health. He is a consultant to many collegiate athletic departments.

Now, 20 years after his incredible single season at Ohio State, Clarett is working hard to recruit the top-ranked freshman quarterback in the country to play for the Buckeyes. It won’t work, but it can’t hurt!
