In a bit of a blow to the Bears, running back Khalil Herbert is looking at some missed time due to an ankle injury he picked up during Thursday night’s game against the Commanders, as reported by NFL Insider Tom Pelissero.

Herbert’s been solid this season, starting all five games and racking up 272 yards on 51 carries, averaging impressive 5.3 yards per rush. Plus, he added 10 catches for 83 yards.

The Bears‘ running back room seems to be falling like dominos. Rookie Roschon Johnson took a hit and now he’s dealing with a concussion. As if that’s not enough, backup runner Travis Homer pulled a hamstring.

So, what’s the game plan now? Well, it might just be D’Onta Foreman’s time to shine for Chicago. He’s been warming the bench after being signed as a free agent this offseason, only getting one game under his belt with 5 carries. He was great for the Panthers last season and might prove it again if he gets a chance.

To beef up their options, the Bears made a move, snagging veteran running back Darrynton Evans off the Dolphins’ practice squad, as reported by Pelissero.

Can the Bears replace Herbert with those other options? Time will tell.
