Folks, it’s official – the Los Angeles Lakers are your 2020 NBA Champions. After beating the Miami Heat in Game 6 at the NBA Bubble at Walt Disney World, the championship marks the Lakers first title since 2010. It’s their 17th overall NBA championship.
The Lakers are now tied with the Boston Celtics for most championships in NBA history.
Celebrations are underway in DTLA by the Staples Center, where thousands of Lakers fans gathered to chants of “KOBE.” Meanwhile, back The Bubble, things are poppin’ off – Lebron made an emotional speech that he “wants his respect” after sealing the deal on his fourth career championship. Dwight Howard’s fiancee didn’t seem interested in letting her man have his moment and Quinn Cook missed the team bus, promoting a hilarious “Make a Uturn” on Instagram Live.
And the memes! The Bronny memes are just so, so good.
Quite an eventful championship.
Since there won’t be a parade around the City of Angels anytime soon (thanks again, COVID), we’ll have to celebrate this NBA Championship with fresh merch.
