Argentinian soccer fans completely took over Nashville prior to the Club World Cup match between Boca Juniors and Auckland City. The country music bands on Lower Broadway were completely baffled by the South American supporters, who did not stop chanting and singing from the moment they arrived to Music City.
It is the single rowdiest fanbase Nashville has ever seen!
Club Atlético Boca Juniors is an Argentine professional soccer team based in La Boca, a neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It has played in the Argentine Primera Division every year since its promotion in 1913, with 74 official titles, but might be best known to non-footy fans as the former club of Diego Maradona.
Although the majority of Club World Club crowds have severely underwhelmed, the international supporters showed up in a big way. Approximately 10,000 rowdy Tunisian soccer fans descended upon Nashville at the end of last week and wreaked havoc on Lower Broadway with an impromptu march on the city that resulted in multiple arrests. Moroccan fans forced a stoppage in play because the smoke from their flares suffocated Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Japanese fans created incredible scenes in Seattle. One River Plate fan literally burned his car to a crisp and collected a $10,000 insurance policy to afford his trip to the United States.
You get the idea. International supporters are showing up and showing out for the Club World Cup. None more than Boca Juniors. They turned Hard Rock Stadium into ‘La Bombonera North’ last week.

They turned the home of Nashville SC into ‘La Bombonera de Tennessee’ on Tuesday. No less than 15,000 Argentinian fans packed into the stadium. It was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at GEODIS Park and that includes the time Messi played in some kind of cup semifinal.
Boca fans drove up from Miami on Monday afternoon.

The party downtown started as soon as they arrived.
The Honky Tonks on Lower Broadway are normally pretty quiet on a Monday night. Most of the weekend travelers are gone. A few stragglers stick around to leave on Tuesday morning. They’re usually in bed by nightfall before an early flight home.
Not this week! Boca fans packed into the country music bars prior to match day.
The house bands didn’t know what to do.
Boca fans requested all of the songs that correspond to their various chants and drowned out the actual lyrics in full voice.
The scene at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honk Tonk was especially hilarious.
They didn’t know what hit them.
Auckland City players decided to take a walk around downtown Nashville around 5:00 p.m. on Monday. They were greeted by los hinchas de Boca, who serenaded them down the entire street.
It was a tremendous showing from Boca Juniors in Nashville for the Club World Cup. American soccer fans need to get on the same level. They’re having way more fun in Argentina!
