  • Formula 1 is the premier racing circuit on the planet and the Bugatti Chiron is one of the fastest street legal super cars ever made
  • The Bugatti Chiron has a top speed of 261 mph and goes 0-to-60 in 2.3 seconds, but how does that compare to an F1 car on a Drag Race track? Only one way to find out

I had these two friends in high school that would spend countless hours a week arguing over which cars were better. It was usually an argument about the Dodge Viper against the Corvette but they’d branch out to debate the Camaro vs. Mustang and others. It’s as if this Bugatti Chiron vs. Formula One Car drag racing video was made for them.

They were never able to put their money where their mouths were and actually test those cars head-to-head on the track because we were broke kids. This just bolsters my belief that successful YouTubers have the best jobs on the planet. Someone was like ‘hey, let’s see if an F1 car or Bugatti Chiron is faster’ and someone else was like ‘yup, we can do that and get paid for it.’

I never expected the Bugatti Chiron to win this race. You might. I didn’t. But they are really neck and neck off the line. It’s closer than I would have ever expected. The race itself starts around the 4:30 mark in this video if you want to jump ahead to the action:

Closer than you expected, right?

The Formula One Red Bull RB7 took just 9.2 seconds to travel the 1/4 mile track. The Bugatti Chiron needed 9.6 seconds to run the 1/4 mile track. I would have expected a wider gap than just 0.4 seconds between the two cars. But maybe I’m grossly overestimating the speed of Formula One cars while also underestimating the Bugatti Chiron, probably because I’ve never seen a Chiron really open up the engine in person.
