The popularity of Call of Duty and Esports has exploded in recent months with people taking shelter in place at home due to the coronavirus pandemic which led to sports fans tuning into Twitch streams and discovering the Call of Duty league.
As a result, some Call of Duty League pros have become increasingly popular on social media with some of them like Scump (2.1 million followers) and Crimsix (800k followers) boasting more followers than several traditional pros in the NBA or MLB.
With increasing popularity comes bigger prize pools. This is week CoD pros will compete in a League-wide tournament with a $4.6 million prize pool.
