Cavs Fans Chant ‘We Want Boston’ Despite Celtics Being Heavily Favored

The Cleveland Cavaliers finally outlasted the Orlando Magic on Sunday, winning game 7 of the back-and-forth series 106-94. Neither team won a road game in the series, and the Cavs had home-court advantage by a game, allowing them to play the deciding game at home.

At the end of the game 7 win, Cavs fans started to chant “We Want Boston”. But, that seems ill-advised, given the fact that the Celtics are lot better than the Cavs.

Take a look.

The Boston Celtics have been the best team in the NBA all year long. Simply put, they’re loaded. They have one of the best star tandems in the league in wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Point guard Jrue Holiday  is one of the best two-way players in the league, as well. Their role players are exceptional, too. Guys like Derrick White, Al Horford, Sam Hauser, and Payton Pritchard all do an excellent job in their roles.

The likely absence of star big man Kristaps Porzingis does hurt Boston. But, this team is still an absolute wagon. They had the league’s best NET Rating, best offensive rating, and third-best defensive rating during the regular season. Their win-loss record backed that up, as they were an NBA-best 64-18.

Meanwhile, the Cavs barely escaped the young and inexperienced Orlando Magic that were considered by many to be the worst team in the entire playoffs this year. Cleveland looked absolutely lost on the road in the series, though did take care of business in their four home games.

The problem with the Cavaliers is that the roster on paper is better than the roster in practice. Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen (missed the last two games of Magic series with bruised ribs are a really good top four players on paper.

But, as good as those players sound in theory, it’s disappointing to actually watch them play together. The two bigs seem to work against each other at times, and the same can be said for the two guards. Yes, they won 48 games this year, and they’re a good NBA team. But, compared to the Celtics, they’re vastly inferior.

Vegas thinks it would be a big upset too. They have the Cavs around 8:1 to win the series, which is pretty steep for a Conference Semifinal series.

The series starts Tuesday night in Boston.
