Houston slugger Chas McCormick was plunked by a 104 MPH fastball in Game 7 of the ALCS. The scene looked painful as he fell to the ground, grimacing in the batter’s box.

Now, we see the early stages of the gruesome bruise that will be left behind. McCormick will likely be in discomfort for some time.

“If you know, you know,” the caption read. “And the bruise is just starting to form.”

This comes two days after the outfielder was hit by that 104 MPH Aroldis Chapman fastball during a game that had already been decided. With the Astros trailing 11-3 in the eighth inning, McCormick stepped up to the dish.

Chapman got up 0-2 in the count but lost control of his third pitch.

The wild toss slammed into McCormick’s leg, forcing the batter to his knees. It somehow looks even more painful in slow motion.

The hit by pitch added brutal insult to injury as the Astros were beaten soundly and eliminated from the playoffs. Despite being plunked, McCormick remained in the game, but it’s obvious the heater did some damage.

Fans were quick to comment on the bruise on social media.

“You can see the silhouette of the ball and lace marks.”

“Is this something you walk off? Like you think you can go for a jog the next morning?”

“Rub some dirt on it.”

McCormick’s season is now over, so he’ll have plenty of time to recover. We’ll see if he gives any more updates as the bruise worsens.
