Chiefs-Dolphins Ticket Prices Are Plummeting As Quickly As The Temperature In Kansas City

You usually have to shell out a pretty solid chunk of change if you want to attend an NFL playoff game. However, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case with the showdown between the Chiefs and the Dolphins thanks to the forecast in Kansas City.

Saturday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins has the makings of a pretty solid contest on paper. After all, you’ve got a couple of stellar quarterbacks in the form of Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailo as well as the best offense in the NFL going up against the league’s second-ranked defense.

However, one storyline has risen above the pack in the lead-up to the game: the weather.

There’s a chance the Chiefs and the Dolphins end up participating in the coldest game in NFL history when everything is said and done. The temperature is expected to be around 0°F (with a wind chill of -25°F) when the game kicks off, and it’s very likely conditions will only get worse as the evening progresses.

That’s not great news for the Dolphins based on how the team has fared in frigid weather, and while the Chiefs will theoretically have home-field advantage on their side, you have to wonder how many fans will actually take the trip to Arrowhead Stadium to brave the elements.

Well, based on how ticket prices are currently trending, it’s very hard to imagine we’re going to be treated to a packed crowd.

You could grab a seat for as low as $90 if you were shopping the secondary market on Monday, and prices only continued to slide from there. The cheapest seats were going for as low as $69 by the time Wednesday rolled around, and as of this writing, the bottom has dropped below the $40 threshold on multiple platforms.

There’s little doubt plenty of borderline-insane souls will end up risking frostbite to watch the game in person, but I don’t think you could pay me enough to do the same.
