The Minnesota Timberwolves polished off an impressive 4-0 playoff sweep of the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, winning game 4 122-116. It is the first playoff series win for Minnesota in twenty years.

But, it’s not all fun and games for the T-Wolves. The concern is focused on their fantastic head coach, Chris Finch.

Finch was run over by the team’s starting point guard and veteran leader, Mike Conley, late in the game on Sunday.

Oh man, that does not look good. I’m just a blogger and have no medical training. But, that certainly looks like a knee injury based on similar hits I’ve seen in football from the side.

Imagine if it’s a torn ACL. Will Chris Finch be able to coach from the bench? If he can’t, they probably wouldn’t allow him to sit up in a booth and communicate with the rest of the coaching staff on the floor, right?

Finch became the head coach of the Timberwolves midseason in 2021. He took the team to their first playoff appearance the next season since 2018. Last season, they went 42-40 and made the postseason.

This was the year the team really broke through. Rudy Gobert settled in and played his trademark great defense after a down year following his move from Utah to Minnesota. Anthony Edwards took the leap. And, Karl-Anthony Towns showed a resurgence back into the star-caliber player he was earlier in his career before injuries took a toll. Mike Conley holds it all together.

Plus, their role players, such as Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reed became impactful players, as well. The Timberwolves were in contention for the top seed in the Western Conference until the final few days of the season, and that’s a testament to Chris Finch.

Hopefully Chris Finch is okay and is able to coach their Western Conference Semifinal series. The Timberwolves await the winner of the Nuggets-Lakers series the Nuggets lead, 3-1.
