The Cormani McClain saga is officially over in Boulder, though the DB threw one last parting shot in a petty farewell to Colorado. In that note thanking the program, he conveniently omitted his head coach.

Deion Sanders’ name was nowhere to be found in the message, though others on staff landed a shoutout. It was McClain’s last subtle jab at the man that’s publicly called him out on numerous occasions.

The cornerback arrived at Colorado with high acclaim. A five-star talent from the Sunshine State, he flipped his Miami commitment during the recruiting process so that he could suit up for the Buffaloes.

He’d hoped to make an immediate impact on the field, but his freshman year with the program didn’t go as planned.

Work ethic was questioned by Coach Prime, and McClain wouldn’t make his first start until the Buffs’ sixth game vs. Arizona State. When he did, he performed poorly.

Sanders doubted McClain’s commitment to football throughout that rookie season, calling him out for missing team meetings, blowing off study sessions, and failing to learn the playbook.

With playing time dipping, McClain hopped in the portal. He posted an ominous message on Instagram earlier this week suggesting he was still unhappy with his standing on the depth chart with the team moving through spring practice.

He confirmed transfer suspicions shortly thereafter.

Cormani McClain sent his final farewell to Colorado.

After announcing that transfer decision, the cornerback posted one last message to the program and fanbase. He conveniently left Deion Sanders off his list of thank you’s.

Making the jab more noticeable was the fact that he singled out defensive coordinator Robert Livingston for providing him with “all the knowledge taught in a short span of time.”

You’d think arguably the greatest defensive back of all-time might deserve some credit for coaching the corner, too, but apparently not!

Nevertheless, Deion Sanders has continued to wish well for Cormani McClain in his next stop, though he believes the five-star talent needs to find motivation to be great.

We’ll see if he lands with the right program.
