Shedeur Sanders is gearing up for the 2025 NFL Draft after wrapping up his college career at the University of Colorado. The signal caller was expected to be one of the top players selected in the event.

Following the NFL Combine, however, rumors of his tanking stock surfaced on media outlets. Deion Sanders has since responded publicly to the recent criticism.

Shedeur Sanders played each of his four NCAA seasons with his father at the helm. He split time at Jackson State and Colorado, leading the Big 12 in passing as a senior.

It was expected to be a two-way race between him and Cam Ward for the honor to be the first QB drafted. Doubt has now been cast as to whether it’s still a competition.

Recent whispers claim that Ward is the new No. 1 QB prospect. Sanders reportedly isn’t a first-round talent on a number of teams’ boards. His stock has fallen, with his arrogance potentially playing a role.

“Sanders is going to be a wildcard in this draft. He could go in the top six or fall out of the first round entirely – neither outcome would come as a shock.”

Deion Sanders doesn’t agree with that assessment. He reposted a video of former NFL lineman Mark Schlereth chiding talent evaluators while vocalizing his support of Shedeur Sanders.

“A lot of the draft evaluators are stupid,” Schlereth said. “Show me a QB who’s not arrogant… Most of them have a lot of belief in what they do. [Sanders] is incredibly accurate. He really understands not only offensive football, but he understands what you’re doing as a defense. He’ll pick you apart that way. He processes quickly. All those things, to me, are big-time attributes.”

Coach Prime believes his son is a first-round talent. That hasn’t changed following these pre-draft rumors.

While criticisms have recently come to light, it’s certainly worth noting that Shedeur Sanders impressed a number of NFL teams at the Combine. One includes the Tennessee Titans, who own the first overall pick.

“Shedeur Sanders has made quite an impression. I’ve talked to four people on staff… They all say he’s been pleasant to work with and willing to do whatever they ask of him. They left the meeting impressed with his mature, relaxed nature.”

We’re still more than a month out from the NFL Draft. Shedeur Sanders still has time to make an impression following the reports. His dad doesn’t seem too worried with the negative headlines. He knows his son’s value on the football field.
