The Detroit Pistons are not a very good NBA team.

In fact, there is plenty of evidence out there to suggest that the Pistons are, instead, a very bad NBA team. So if you can’t get into the starting lineup for the team with the worst record in the league, what does that say about you?

Well, if you’re Malachi Flynn, apparently not much.

Flynn, who is in his fourth NBA season, and his third team just this year, put up the most unbelievable 50-point performance in league history on Thursday night in a 121-113 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Toronto Raptors selected Flynn with the 29th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of San Diego State. But he never really found his footing in the league and was traded to the Knicks earlier this season as a throw-in as part of a deal for OG Anunoby.

New York then traded Flynn to Detroit in a deal that brought back Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.

Flynn has played a limited role since arriving in Detroit. But that didn’t deter him.

He became the player with the lowest career scoring average (5.2) to score 50 points in an NBA game against the Hawks. That broke the previously held by Terrence Ross, who averaged 7.4 points per game at the time.

Detroit Pistons’ Malachi Flynn Isn’t Surprised By His 5-Point GameOf course, fans on social media couldn’t believe the performance.

Flynn, however, says he knew what he was capable of.

“I would say yeah, but more for me…Just kind of showing myself that I can do some of those things, I don’t think it’s a fluke in any way,” Flynn said when asked if he felt he was sticking it to his previous teams.

Given how much Bogdanovic has struggled in New York, the Knicks might definitely have some buyers remorse on this one.
