While the NFL has thus far refused to investigate Mike Vrabel under its personal conduct policy due to his alleged affair with Dianna Russini, increasing reports continue to outline how the pair’s relationship may have altered the course of the NFL; from trades to free agent signings to the NFL Draft.

A new report from Austin Stanley, co-founder of A to Z Sports and a Tennessee Titans content creator, alleges that Mike Vrabel’s relationship with Dianna Russini resulted in the leaking of inside information that directly affected multiple NFL transactions over at least four consecutive offseasons — including two of the most consequential moves in recent AFC South history.

The alleged affair between Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel may have altered the course of modern AFC South history

The most well-reported aspect of the story ties 2022 NFL Draft, in which Russini — who was scheduled to be in Indianapolis to cover the draft for ESPN — instead stayed in Nashville. Vrabel was the head coach of the Titans at the time.

During this time, Russini broke the story of the Titans’ blockbuster and unexpected trade of AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles — a franchise-altering move that sent one of the best receivers in the league to the opposite conference, with Stanley allegeing that Vrabel fed her the information directly.

The following year, Stanley reports that Russini published a tweet — which she later deleted, in addition to purging her entire X/Twitter account and making her Instagram private — claiming the Titans had withdrawn their trade offer to the Arizona Cardinals for the No. 3 pick after CJ Stroud was selected.

The Houston Texans, seemingly reacting to Russini’s report about Tennessee’s interest in the then-Ohio State QB, traded back up to No. 3 to select Will Anderson Jr., surrendering further draft capital in the process.

In his first year in the NFL, Stroud was named to the Pro Bowl and voted as Offensive Rookie of the Year, while also quarterbacking the Texans to three straight postseason apperances.

If Stanley’s reporting is accurate, that means that Vrabel’s alleged information leak didn’t just help Russini break news but it actively influenced another franchise’s draft decisions.

While Vrabel remains the head coach of the New England Patriots and has made multiple statements and public appearances, Russini hasn’t been heard from — other than paparazzi photos — since she published her resignation letter from The Athletic on April 14.
