Draymond Green Calls Out Warriors Teammates After First Game Back From Lengthy Suspension

Self-awareness is not exactly a strong suit of Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green.

Green has shown as much time and time again, including when he called out teammates for a lack of chemistry just two months ago.

Despite only just returning from a lengthy suspension that undoubtedly hurt his team, Green again took aim at his Warriors teammates on Monday.

Draymond Green Says That Warriors Teammates Lack ‘Pride’

After a 116-107 loss to the extremely shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies, Green said that Golden State lacked “pride”, which led to defenses lapses.

“You just gotta have pride in yourself as a man that I’m not gonna let my guy score,” Green said after the game. “Our closeouts [were] too soft. Our rotations were too slow. So there’s just no pride. Until every guy takes pride in themselves, and wants to stop the guy in front of him, we’ll suck.”

Golden State may not suck. But the league’s most-valuable franchise sure isn’t very good.

The loss sent the Warriors tumbling to 18-22 on the year. They currently sit in 12th spot in the Western Conference. That’s 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the final play-in spot. Over its last 10 games, Golden State is now just 3-7.

Players appear to be turning on longtime coach Steve Kerr. While Kerr has routinely asked for more from the young players on his team.

“We have to understand where we are as a team — what our record is, where we are in the Western Conference,” Kerr said after the loss to the Grizzlies. “What that means is we have to be sharp. We have to play a smart, clean game. We can’t turn it over. We can’t reach. We can’t foul. We did all those things.”

Is the Warriors dynasty over? That’s not for us to say.

But there’s undoubtedly trouble in paradise.
