Eagles Devon Allen Claims He’s ‘Definitely’ The Fastest Player In The NFL

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen recently proclaimed himself as the fastest player in the National Football League.

Allen, who is no stranger to showcasing his speed on the track, believes that his exceptional athleticism sets him apart from his fellow NFL counterparts.

Speaking to TMZ, Allen confidently stated, “I definitely am [the fastest]. I’m not gonna roast [Tyreek Hill and DK Metcalf] because what they did [in track] was impressive.”

Allen added: “I raced Tyreek Hill when I was in high school, and he smoked me back then. DK Metcalf ran a 10.3 a couple years ago is super impressive for a guy that’s 6’4″, 6’3″, 225, but I think especially at the top level, top 5, top 10 in the world, there’s a big gap in terms of just performance.”

While Allen’s claim is undoubtedly backed by his impressive track record, which includes recently running the fourth fastest 110-meter hurdles time of the year, his assertion faces skepticism due to his limited success on the football field.

Despite his exceptional speed, the 28-year-old receiver has yet to secure a spot on an NFL team’s 53-man roster, casting doubt on his overall football ability.

In his defense, Allen took a hiatus from football to focus on his track career. However, he has since made the decision to return to the gridiron and pursue his dreams in the NFL.

Reflecting on his experiences during the 2022 season with the Eagles, Allen admitted, “The first whirlwind for me was training camp, getting thrown into the fire and realizing this isn’t college anymore. I played at the University of Oregon, which is high-level ball, but the NFL takes it to another level.”

Allen’s comments draw attention to the stark contrast between excelling in college football and thriving at the professional level. The transition can be overwhelming for many athletes, and raw physical attributes alone are often insufficient to secure a lasting career in the NFL.

While Allen’s speed may be unmatched, his path to establishing himself as a valued NFL player remains arduous.
