A devastating setback for the 4-4 Falcons, as defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is out for the rest of the 2023 season due to a torn ACL.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news, as the two-time Pro Bowler’s season concludes with 23 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Jarrett, who secured a three-year, $67 million contract extension with the Falcons before the 2022 season, will undergo surgery and extensive rehab as he heads for injured reserve.

He sustained the injury during Sunday’s 28-23 loss to the Titans, exiting the game after just four snaps.

Despite the injury, Jarrett’s future with the Falcons seems secure, as his contract locks him to the team until 2025. The team will miss his on-field presence for the remainder of this season, as he was arguably the best player on defense.

The focus now shifts to Jarrett’s recovery, with the likelihood of him returning to action at the start of the next year’s training camp.

Jarrett was a fifth-round pick in the 2015 Draft and has spent his entire career with Atlanta. His accolades include 2nd-team All-Pro honors in 2019 and a total of 32.5 career sacks.
