The All-Star weekend festivities will kick off at T-Mobile Park on Monday with the start of the Home Run Derby. While the coming days will bring excitement to the city of Seattle, many baseball fans are outraged with the spike in parking prices.

Photos of parking areas around the stadium are now making their way to the social media, sparking a reaction amongst event goers.

The 2023 season will mark the third time the All-Star Game has been held in the Emerald City, with the last occurrence coming in 2001. That contest saw Mariners legends Ichiro Suzuki and Edgar Martinez take the field, but there’s a new wave of stars on the roster this year.

Most notably, outfielder Julio Rodriguez will take part in Monday’s Home Run Derby before suiting up for the American League Tuesday night. The hometown hero is a favorite to win the event, and he’ll undoubtedly have the crowd behind him.

But while fans are eager to support their players, they might have to spend a pretty penny to do so.

Parking prices appear to be rising as the All-Star event makes its way to Seattle, sparking outrage from those looking to attend. A photo posted by Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times is making the rounds on social media showing a lot charging $120 this week.

For reference, garage parking around the stadium on a typical gameday ranges from $8-$50 depending on the time and opponent.

Baseball followers have been quick to post reactions of frustration.

One person wrote, “That’s robbery. Should be criminal.”

Another commented, “Go ahead and add another $15-20 with the fees since most lots don’t take cash and you have to pay through the online portal. Just brutal.”

“Absurd price gouging. Should be ashamed of themselves,” this tweet read.

Someone else referenced the parking prices seen the last time Seattle hosted the All-Star Game.

An expensive ticket, for sure. If you can use public transportation to get to the stadium, it might be worth it.
