Florida State fans are telling the Seminoles to treat a now “meaningless” Orange Bowl like they would a glorified scrimmage. The suggestion comes following FSU’s College Football Playoff snub on Selection Sunday.

Despite posting a perfect 13-0 record and winning the ACC, the ‘Noles were left out of the four-team CFP field. Instead, one-loss Texas and Alabama squads got the nod.

With that unprecedented decision, Florida State became the first undefeated Power Five champ not to have the opportunity of competing for a national title.

Instead, they’ve been cast to the Orange Bowl where they’ll play Georgia.

Many are already telling the ‘Noles to boycott playing in that postseason matchup out of spite. Others have given another option, though.

A Reddit user named “NoleFan723” wrote a message saying FSU should accept the bid, make the trip to South Florida, get in the extra practice time, then no-show before kickoff.

The top comment in the thread agreed, but with a twist.

Should FSU treat the Orange Bowl like a scrimmage?

“I somewhat agree… I think FSU should very publicly say that it’s treating this Orange Bowl like a preseason camp and scrimmage OR a showcase for the walk-ons and scout team guys to honor their commitment. We can’t just walk out, and we can’t completely waste the opportunity of another game of experience to get ready for 2024…

“I’d love to see CMN and Kirby get together and run this thing like a spring game. Some goal line spots, 3rd and long, alternate two-minute drills… Treat it like the meaningless scrimmage that it REALLY and truly is.”

It’s an interesting concept, especially considering the fact that the game is sure to see opt-outs with no championship at stake. A few others agreed.

“If ESPN can collude, so can UGA/FSU. Neither team wants to be there.”

“I would buy Orange Bowl tickets just to see the young men enjoy their time and speak their mind.”

In the end, it seems like a longshot, but it shows the frustrations being experienced in Tallahassee.
