College Basketball Game Delayed After Team Has To Be Rescued From Stuck Elevator

Long Island University and Fairleigh Dickinson found themselves in a precarious situation ahead of their basketball matchup on Thursday night. The bizarre scenario would lead to a brief delay as the FDU team had to be evacuated from a stuck elevator.

According to one Knights player, the elevator stay lasted about 15 minutes and conditions were less than ideal!

“It was hot!”

Scenes from the ride quickly went viral as firefighters pried the doors open to get the team out. Like something out of a movie, you see just the heads of those Fairleigh Dickinson players and coaches as the elevator car sat halfway between floors.

Everyone got out safely, and the team soon made its way to the court.

The unexpected pregame experience seemed to slow FDU down over the first 10 minutes of action as LIU jumped out to a quick double-digit lead.

The Knights would make some adjustments, however, to get back into the game.

One of those changes included taking the stairs to the locker room at the halftime break!

Not the worst idea!

A high-scoring second half wouldn’t be enough to decide this entertaining matchup as both sides were locked at 79-79 when the buzzer sounded.

FDU would later win in overtime with Long Island missing a go-ahead three-pointer at the horn.

Oddly enough, it’s not the first wacky delay we’ve seen this season involving LIU. Earlier in the year, the Sharks got stuck in a New York City traffic jam that caused the start of a contest versus Columbia to be pushed back.

Can’t wait to see what’s next!
