Stetson Bennett’s Chances Of Starting In 2022 May Be Limited Based On New Brock Vandagriff Video

Georgia football is coming off of its first college football national championship in more than four decades and its starting quarterback from 2021/22 is back for 2022/23. However, he might not start.

Stetson Bennett, who began his collegiate career as a walk-on, made a historic rise to College Football Playoff National Championship MVP. In turn, head coach Kirby Smart called him the greatest walk-on of all-time, even better than one who is likely considered the most famous.

After winning it all last season, Bennett cashed-in with some lucrative deals for his NIL. Not long thereafter, he announced that he is returning to Athens for his sixth and final season of eligibility.

And yet, despite his success in 2021, Bennett might not be QB1 for the Bulldogs.

He was thrust into the starting role a year ago after an injury to J.T. Daniels. Daniels, who has since entered the transfer portal, was considered to be the “better” quarterback by many Georgia fans and college football analysts, even as the Bulldogs went to the College Football Playoff.

Bennett obviously proved the haters wrong and showed that he can reach the highest of heights. That doesn’t mean that he is the best quarterback on the roster next season.

Behind Bennett is Class of 2021 signee Brock Vandagriff. Vandagriff, a five-star prospect and No. 4-ranked quarterback in his class, stands 6-foot-3, 205 pounds and is considered to be the future at the quarterback position for Georgia.

The only question is whether the future is this year or next. Bennett and Vandagriff are set to battle it out during spring and summer practices and many people believe that the latter is the favorite to win the job.

Based on a recent video of the redshirt freshman in action, that very well might be the case. He is spending his spring break with private quarterback coach Jon Richt and is absolutely ripping it.

Not only does Vandagriff’s arm have a serious zip to it that isn’t necessarily emulated by Bennett, but he just looks the part. With spring practice set to begin in five days, it will be curious to see how things shake out at the quarterback position.
