Jalen Brewster is the top ranked high school football player in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He is currently committed to play at Texas Tech though he is still going through the process of taking school visits.

The defensive lineman will be on Florida’s campus this weekend. The Gators, and any other suitors, might have a hurdle to overcome in order to flip Brewster.

Property in Lubbock was recently purchased by the ‘J Brewster Living Trust’ in February of this year. It seems he’s already setting his roots in West Texas.

Who is Jalen Brewster?

Brewster is the nation’s No. 1 prospect in 247 Sports’ composite rankings. The five-star defender stands 6-3 and tips the scales at more than 300 pounds. He is college ready.

Despite that massive frame, he possesses athleticism and quickness. Brewster played two seasons at running back for Cedar Hill High School before flipping to the other side of the ball.

He shined on the defensive line as a junior. His recruitment has blown up as a result.

Brewster holds offers from every notable college in America. Last October, he committed to play at Texas Tech. He has not shut down his recruitment.

Since making that pledge, the lineman has visited Miami, Florida, Texas, LSU, and Indiana. He will make a return trip to Gainesville this week.

With that being said, most believe he’ll ultimately wind up in Lubbock.

A property purchase fuels speculation.

Bobby Burton of On Texas Football posted a message and link referencing the property on Tuesday. Information on the purchase appears to confirm that it is indeed Jalen Brewster’s.

The purchase was made by the ‘J Brewster Living Trust’ on February 17th. His father, Robert, and agent, Derrick Shelby, are listed on the paperwork.

Was it bought for a new home? Does it confirm his future at Texas Tech? How did he buy the property?

Many have speculated that the Red Raiders are using it as a recruiting tool. There is no confirmation of the program’s involvement in the purchase.

Instead, there is a more likely answer as to how he acquired the land.

Brewster’s family isn’t hurting for money. Robert Brewster was a third-round NFL Draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2009. He signed a $2.4 million contract with a signing bonus of $625,600.

While his stay in Dallas was short-lived, it would provide the funds for the purchase.

Jalen Brewster will also soon have money of his own. Texas high school football players can sign NIL deals. Payment can be received after enrolling in college.

The lineman already boasts an NIL valuation of $551,000, with “whispers” that it could be closer to $1 million. He is represented by the Prestige Management Group.

The property purchase isn’t confirmation of a future signing with Texas Tech. Land can be sold as easily as it is bought. The largest obstacle may be Joey McGuire.

The Red Raiders will be able to open up the checkbook for Brewster. There’s no doubt they can compete with any school in the country when it comes to NIL.

McGuire, though, is Texas high school royalty. He was a legend at Cedar Hill, Brewster’s current school, where he won three state titles.

That bond may be the hardest for other suitors to overcome. Should he wind up in Lubbock, Brewster shouldn’t have to do much shopping for his next living situation.
