New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm incurred the ire of fans on Monday night as he was spotted eating a lollipop while playing defense in the field. The Yankees also lost the game to the Detroit Tigers by a score of 5-3.

During Monday night’s loss to the Detroit Tigers, Jazz Chisholm, who was starting at second base, was seen eating what appeared to be a Blow-Pop while playing defense in the fifth inning with the Yankees down 4-1. At the plate, Chisholm also went 1-4 with two strikeouts.

Beyond the apparent laissez-faire message it sends, enjoying a lollipop while playing baseball is also a choking hazard.

“This would lowkey be aura if he didn’t f—— suck at baseball 😭😭😭,” one tweet with over 315,000 views said in response.

“Would rather see my son with a Zyn at second base,” a second joked.

“This is pretty annoying, but not as annoying as the fact that he has a .579 OPS with RISP,” a third added.

With the loss to the Tigers, the Yankees now sit at 46-31 and maintain a two-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays atop the American League East.

So far this season, Chisholm — his third year with the Yankees — is batting .226 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs. The Yankees acquired Chisholm in a trade with the Miami Marlins in July 2024, sending the NL East club minor league prospects Agustín Ramírez, Jared Serna, and Abrahan Ramírez in return.

A two-time All-Star (2022 and 2025), Chisholm has a career batting average of .246, 119 home runs, 339 RBIs, and 151 stolen bases.
