Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott Is ‘The Best Leader I’ve Ever Seen’ At The QB Position

Jerry Jones is doing it again.

During his weekly appearance on Dallas sports radio, JJ claimed Cowboys Dak Prescott is “the best leader I’ve ever seen” at the quarterback position.

“If I’ve ever seen anybody that is so sound in his psyche, so sound in his approach to business, and this is business for him, so prepared, he relies on his preparation more than anybody I’ve been around,” Jerry Jones said about Dak Prescott on his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “And, of course, he stays confident and solid out there.”

Jones continued his effusive praise of Prescott, adding, “He’s the best leader I’ve ever seen at that position and we’ve been around some good ones.

“Aikman was outstanding. Tony I think was outstanding, I think, but Dak’s quite a leader out there at that position.”

That’s right. Jerry Jones invoked the names of Dallas Cowboys greats Troy Aikman and Tony Romo when he made his outlandish statement.

Never mind the fact that Jones has been following the NFL for somewhere around 70 years and has seen quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Joe Montana, John Elway, Jim Kelly, Roger Staubach, Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, and numerous other Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

Of course, Jerry Jones’ myopic opinion of Dak Prescott is nothing new.

Just last month, Jones said Dak “is just – in terms of what a quarterback is about – that number one is somebody that the team will follow. He’s the best I’ve ever seen or heard about.”

Last September, Jones said, “There’s a lot of me that sees the excellence Tom Brady is about, how much he focuses on the nuances of the game, I see those characteristics in Dak.”

Then, this past March, Jerry once again compared Prescott to Brady.

“I’ve really felt for quite awhile that Dak has the ability… I don’t want to dare do this to Dak or me or anybody, but I think just as Brady became, in my mind, better and better and more impactful on how they won as he got into his career, I think Dak really has those qualities,” said Jones.

Heck, he’s been saying comparing Dak Prescott to Tom Brady since 2019.

“I think he’s more like Brady,” Jones said, while dismissing comparisons to Aikman and Romo. “Now, I’m not going to. … We know Tom Brady, and he’s no Tom Brady. I didn’t say that. [Ed: That will come later.] But the point is he will evolve and is evolving into a guy that will beat you. He will beat you with different circumstances and different players and different type teams. He will be on teams that have better defense than others. He will be on teams that have better protection than others. I think we got us one in Dak.”

This will be Prescott’s ninth year in the NFL (something Jones may or may not be aware of), so, technically, he’s got still got 14 more seasons to make Jerry Jones’ words become a reality.
