John Lynch Praised Mike McDaniel Without Knowing The Head Coach Was Listening And McDaniel’s Reaction Is Priceless

General Managers and coaches are in Indianapolis this week preparing for the NFL Combine. Teams are beginning to meet with players, holding interview sessions with college gamers looking to make the jump to the pros.

We’ve already seen a few tales throughout the initial interview process, including a hilarious story from UNC QB Sam Howell. The future first-round selection was asked to shoot baskets on a mini hoop while talking with the Eagles as opposed to answering any football related questions.

His performance may have scared Philadelphia off.

Another interesting storyline involves new Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and his former employer at the 49ers.

San Francisco GM John Lynch took to the podium on Wednesday and was asked about what McDaniel meant to the organization. He gives salute to his former offensive coordinator, who’d been on staff since 2017.

“I’m excited for Mike, I really am. I think highly of him as a person, as a friend. I have known him since he was a ball boy on my teams with the Denver Broncos, and I’m pulling for the guy. I think we all are because Mike’s a special person, aside from being a special football coach.”

What Lynch didn’t know was that McDaniel was in the crowd listening to every word.

And his reaction was awesome.

McDaniel lets out an immediate, “F Yeah, John!”

Lynch, not knowing that his friend was in the audience, responded in surprise. “There you are Mikey! I didn’t even know you were there.”

Growing up in Colorado, McDaniel watched Lynch play for the Denver Broncos. He certainly took the words to heart and that genuine reaction has to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
