Last month, ESPN published a hotly disputed article claiming the New England Patriots were in a state of disarray due to an alleged power struggle in Foxborough involving Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and team owner Robert Kraft. On Sunday, NFL fans around the country rejoiced when the Eagles triumphed over the Pats in Super Bowl LII in a loss that many people are hoping is the beginning of the end of the New England dynasty (despite the odds saying otherwise).
Bill Belichick has repeatedly used the powers he was granted after making a deal with Satan a couple of decades ago to adjust to basically any roster and personnel changes that have come his way, but it appears this offseason might present more of a challenge than usual (especially if the rumors of Rob Gronkowski’s retirement come to fruition).
Former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia capped off his career in New England with by employing an impressively useless gameplan against Philadelphia before being named the head coach of the Detroit Lions on Monday, and the Pats just lost another major roleplayer in the form of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts confirmed the speculation that McDaniels would be defecting after the end of the season when they officially announced he’ll be taking over for Chuck Pagano in 2018.

McDaniels crashed and burned during his season-and-a-half stint with the Denver Broncos before returning to the Patriots with his tail between his legs, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see if history repeats itself.
