  • Kyrie Irving and the Nets were swept out of the playoffs in the first round.
  • Despite this, Irving keeps finding a way to make headlines.
  • The Nets’ point guard recently called certain NBA fans “cockroaches” during a Twitch stream.

Despite the fact that the Brooklyn Nets 2021-22 season is over, Kyrie Irving is finding a way to keep himself in the headlines.

During a recent Twitch stream, Irving, who was playing Grand Theft Auto 5, affected a voice that could only be described as being similar to an obnoxious teenager as he mocked certain sections of NBA fans. Seriously, when is the last time you’ve heard an adult use that tone of voice? Irving also called these people “cockroaches” at the end of his rant.

“‘Go back to Cleveland, oh my God, Boston hates you, oh my God.’ That’s how y’all sound to me, cockroaches,” Irving says at the end of the clip.

Irving’s comments on Twitch come just a week after he said during a podcast interview that his 2021-22 season was like living “the life of a martyr.” Irving is currently in the midst of a four-year, $136 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

One of Stephen A. Smith’s biggest criticisms of Kyrie Irving is that he seems to look down on other people  — “peons” is a word he’ll frequently use on First Take –and this video is certainly an example of that. Irving’s behavior has escalated to such an extent that Smith has also recently referred to him as the “most delusional athlete in American history.”

If Kyrie, Kevin Durant, and the Brooklyn Nets don’t get off to a torrid start next season, it will be fascinating to see how the Brooklyn fanbase will react to Irving, whose return last season coincided with the Nets virtually falling off a cliff.
