A therapist claims she put on a 150-person retreat in North Dakota for Kyrie Irving and his family and he still hasn’t paid the almost $400,000 bill. On top of that, one attendee unexpectedly died at the retreat.

The lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York on Monday by Natasha McCartney, Kyrie Irving’s longtime therapist. She accuses Irving of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud. She is seeking payment in full, plus interest, costs, and attorneys’ fees, according to The Independent.

McCartney says she and her company, Elite Mind Solutions, provided guided meditation sessions, ionic foot baths, and intuitive life readings to Kyrie Irving and his family during the five-day gathering held from June 28 to July 2, 2024 in North Dakota.

She also claims that she had to quickly pivot to crisis intervention and grief counseling after one of the retreat attendees died. The crisis intervention allegedly included “promptly facilitat[ing] the removal of Kyrie from the scene to avoid media exposure.” That included retaining “the security services of [her] husband… a retired NYPD Internal Affairs Detective 1st Grade from the Internal Affairs Division, to manage the situation and coordinate intervention with state officers.”

McCartney also states in her lawsuit that she “assisted the Coroner with preparations for the family viewing and transportation” and “provided essential information to ensure that guests were not interrogated by [police],” following the unexpected death during the retreat.

In addition to that, she claims in the lawsuit that Kyrie Irving told her that 50 to 60 people would attend the event, then just days before it happened he changed that number to around 115. Once the retreat began, however, around 150 people were actually in attendance.

For performing all of those services, Natasha McCartney, who has worked with the Irving family since 2020, says the Mavericks guard owes her and her company $390,710. Thus far, she claims, he hasn’t paid her a dime for the retreat despite having paid her “every single time they have worked together in the past.”

“After making direct contact with Kyrie Irving and his associates, Mr. Irving put it all off on his supporting cast,” McCartney’s attorney Michael Faragalla told The Independent. “He even failed to pick up the phone and call Natasha McCartney, so he didn’t make any effort to resolve [the situation] prior to the actual filing [of the lawsuit]. Of course, he had an attorney retained, and of course, his manager and his agent got involved and made several insulting offers, but Kyrie Irving himself never personally tried to make amends.”
