Will he play or will he sit?

That’s the question on everyone’s mind regarding Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson missed the last five games of the regular season after suffering a sprained PCL in a game against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 5. The Ravens went 2-3 in those five games with backup Tyler Huntley starting in four of them.

Baltimore is now just three days out from beginning its playoff push against AFC North rival Cincinnati. The third-seeded Bengals clinched the AFC North and home field against the Ravens with a 27-16 victory in Week 18. Cincy took an early 17-0 lead in that contest and cruised home.

But that was with Anthony Brown at quarterback for Baltimore. Brown was filling in for Huntley who missed the game due to precautionary reasons. Now the question is will Jackson make a triumphant return for the playoff push.

It appears the answer to that questions is a resounding “no.” And it doesn’t sound like he was really all that close.

Lamar Jackson Gives Detailed Explanation Of The Status Of His Injured Left Knee

With just 72 hours left until the game, Baltimore Ravens fans were holding out hope. But Jackson himself put an end to that on Thursday night, tweeting out an update on his injury.

“Thank you everyone for your support and concerns regarding my injuries,” he began. “I want to give you all an update as I am in the recovery process. I’ve suffered a PCL grade 2 sprain on the borderline of a strain 3. There is still inflammation surrounding my knee and my knee remains unstable. I’m still in good spirits, as I continue with treatments on the road to recovery. I wish I could be out there with my guys more than anything but I can’t give a 100% of myself to my guys and fans I’m still hopeful we still have a chance.”

Jackson, of course, is set to become a free agent following the season after he failed to agree to a long-term deal with Baltimore last offseason.

After locking up star linebacker Roquan Smith long term, many believe the Ravens will use the franchise tag on Jackson in the offseason.

Though with a lack on long-term stability for the former NFL MVP and now a growing injury history, he may not take very kindly to that option.

Only time will tell.
