LIV Golf is in a state of uncertainty. Its future is rumored to be dire. A demise is said to be imminent.
Money concerns are the reason for that speculation. Despite the negative headlines, the league moved forward with its tournament in Mexico this week.
The field is in Mexico City to spend the weekend at Club de Golf Chapultepec. It was supposed to be a step away from the attention received, showing a plan to move forward with business as usual.
It would be anything but!
The LIV Golf broadcast crashed.

Thursday’s round kicked off during the early afternoon. Viewers watching along on FOX and YouTube saw fireworks in the opening moments.
Joaquin Niemann drilled an ace on his first shot of the day. That came after a scathing denial of “exaggerated” money issues from the announcers in the booth.
LIV Golf Mexico City is underway.
At the top of the broadcast, Arlo White says the reports of LIV’s imminent demise “were greatly exaggerated.”

“This generation has spawned a bunch of fast typists that consider themselves to be experts,” said David Feherty. “Evidently they’re not.”
Not much else from the event would be witnessed. The livestreams went dark within minutes.
We’ve crossed the 30-minute mark of this groovy elevator music on LIV Golf’s Mexico City live YouTube stream.
Fox One stream is also out, per @dpyoung13.

The blackout lasted for longer than an hour.
Okay, we now have a new background, and LIV’s theme music, which I actually think is pretty good/catchy, all things considered. https://t.co/aCrZl2M9Ey pic.twitter.com/1VrgOOBIyq

At the time of this writing, the stream is still down. It’s garnered a comical response on social media.
“Can’t even afford the light bill,” wrote one golf fan. “It’s literally unwatchable,” another chimed in.
The future is unclear.
Jokes aside, the LIV Golf broadcast had nothing to do with financial issues. Instead, a power outage in Mexico appears to be the culprit.
Un apagón en México DF ha provocado una caída de la señal del @livgolf_league México City. En unos minutos esperamos poder conectar con el torneo. Lamentamos las molestias.

That does not change the belief that the league is in trouble. A shutdown has been rumored after just five seasons. Funding is supposedly being cut.
An emergency meeting was called this week in New York, according to The Telegraph. It is believed that the Saudi PIF is considering a dissolution of its investment in a changing political landscape.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil assured fans that the 2026 campaign would be completed without pause. The future beyond that is up in the air.
O’Neil was scheduled to be interviewed during Thursday afternoon’s LIV Golf broadcast. The outage, however, may alter that plan.
All in all, the blackout wasn’t the best look following a week of headlines.
