Lou Holtz Interviewed By Bizarro Lou Holtz On Pat McAfee Show

Lou Holtz

After signing a massive deal with ESPN, former NFL punter and television personality Pat McAfee is taking his show on the road this fall. The College GameDay panelist is hosting his Friday shows this fall from the set of College GameDay across the country. With the show being in South Bend for this weekend’s monster Ohio State-Notre Dame matchup, they brought on the real Lou Holtz to be interviewed by bizarro Lou Holtz in a hilarious segment.

Bizarro Lou Holtz was played by Toxic Table member Ty Schmit. And, Schmit absolutely knocked it out of the park. Take a look.

I’ll be honest, I watched this in real time, but didn’t catch the start. I had no clue what was happening, I had no clue why bizarro Lou, who also somehow had a lisp, was interviewing the legendary Irish coach.

But, credit everyone involved, because it was an incredible interview. At 86 years old, Lou Holtz appeared to be really sharp still too, which is great.

In case you’re a youngin’ reading this, Holtz is best-known the coach at Notre Dame from 1986-1996. He had and impressive 100-30-2 record in South Bend, and brought home the team’s last national title in 1988. The Irish had near misses in 1989, 1992, and 1993, and it was the most successful stretch for the program since the days of Ara Parseghian.

He went on to coach at South Carolina, before joining ESPN for a ten-year stint most known for his staged feuds and argument with fellow analyst Mark May.

He’s still a legend in South Bend, even if his tenure was later marred by an NCAA investigation. And, this interview will only help his legacy.
