The LSU baseball program won its first national championship since 2009 on Monday, taking down the Florida Gators in Game 3 of the College World Series final.

In what was a complete blowout, the Tigers’ bats came alive to the tune of an 18-4 victory. After putting an emphatic mark on the 2023 season, LSU players rushed onto the field to begin the celebration.

At least, those that could.

One player, catcher Alex Milazzo, was injured during the action. While trying to avoid being tagged out at home plate in the fourth inning, the backstop landed awkwardly.

The result was a fractured shin and subsequent removal from the game.

Teammate Paul Skenes wasn’t going to let the setback keep Milazzo out of the celebration. As LSU started a dogpile on the mound, Skenes was seen carrying his teammate out of the dugout to join in.

Fans and media were quick to react to the awesome moment.

“Paul Skenes carrying Alex Milazzo onto the field to celebrate with his teammates is why I love baseball,” one fan wrote.

“This shot is one of the greatest of all-time,” Grayson Weir of Outkick said.

Others joined in, with this follower writing, “Best moment of the entire game right there.”

Someone else simply posted, “This is awesome.”

The party would continue for the LSU baseball team later in the night, and as you’d expect, they’d find a creative way to include Milazzo. The catcher was seen being escorted by handcart while sporting a cast after the game.

Just another reason why sports are the best.
