The Chicago Bears widely considered one of the worst-coached teams in the NFL. That falls at the feet of Head Coach Matt Eberflus.
Last week, the Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers after their game-winning field goal attempt was blocked, sending a crushing blow to their playoff hopes. That’s a mistake you’d think would be shored up during practice this week, but that wasn’t the case.
The Bears had a huge divisional game with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the kind of game where every point is going to matter. Caleb Williams played a strong first half, and had the Bears in field goal range for what should’ve been an easy field goal.

Clearly, the field goal issues have not been resolved. It’s inexcusable at this level to have a field goal blocked, given the speed that the ball gets back to the holder and is kicked. To have it happen two weeks in a row is completely inexcusable.
It’s just more evidence that Matt Eberflus is out of his league as an NFL Head Coach. Heading into Sunday, he was a terrible 14-30 as an NFL head coach. The Bears, who finally do have a solid roster, often look unprepared. His hire of now-fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron completely stunted the development of first-overall pick Caleb Williams.
All that aside, not fixing the field goal protection is completely inexcusable. It’s bad enough to give up one blocked field goal. To give up a blocked field goal two years in a row is simply appalling. It shows that the Bears need to move on from Matt Eberflus this offseason.
