NASCAR driver Myatt Snider said that he is “extremely blessed to be as okay as he is” after going airborne during a wild, dangerous crash during the Xfinity Series Race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night. The 27-year-old somehow was able to walk away and only suffered an injury to his left foot.

Snider was running sixth when the last lap began. Contact was made as he came down the backstretch and it turned his car head-on into the barrier.

After making contact with the railing, his car elevated off of the track. While in the air, the back end of Snider’s Chevrolet went into the fence and caused the car to rotate.

When the front side of the car hit the barrier, its engine was ripped out of the car. Much of the car’s front and rear were ripped away, leaving only the center section with Snider inside as it went up in flames.

The replay is insane.

A freeze-frame from the wreck puts the danger in perspective.

Fortunately, Snider was able to exit the vehicle quickly before anything else could go wrong. When safety workers ran to his side, he asked them for some space.

“They were trying to ask me a bunch of questions, and I just needed to get my bearings,” Snider said. “I needed to figure out ‘What just happened?’ I had to take a second to figure all that and get ready and get my stuff. Thankfully, they took care of me.”

Snider was checked out by the medical team and is, somehow, virtually unscathed.

Here is what his car looked like after the wreck:

Although his left foot is an area of concern, Snider says that he believes that he will be able to race as scheduled next weekend.

It is a miracle that Snider was able to walk away.
