It has been just weeks since the sudden and tragic passing of NASCAR star Kyle Busch at the age of 41, and the auto racing world is still in mourning.
Over the weekend, Busch’s former teammate, Denny Hamlin, celebrated the life of his friend after tying Busch for ninth all-time in Cup Series wins. We’ve also heard statements from across the NASCAR world, including former boss Richard Childress, who revealed that Busch was set to sign a contract extension for 2027.
But up until this point, the one person who we had not heard from was Kurt’s older brother Kyle, who won the 2004 Cup Series champion and raced alongside Kyle at the highest level of the sport for more than a decade before retiring in 2022.
On Monday morning, that changed when Kurt Busch took in Instagram to address the heartbreaking loss of his brother.
Kurt Busch Shares Thoughts On Passing Of His Brother Kyle
While Kurt Busch was often boisterous as a driver, it’s not particularly surprising that he had not yet made a public state.
For one, Busch is dealing with an unimaginable tragedy and we’re sure it took plenty of time to even figure out what to say. Additionally, Busch had shied away from the spotlight since post-concussion symptoms forced his early retirement.
But when Busch finally did share his thoughts with the world, they were extremely poignant.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes, support, and love for my brother and our family,” he wrote.
“Finding a silver lining, I reflect back on the days Kyle and I raced anything we could get our hands on,” Busch continued. “From big wheels to competing on the biggest stages in motorsports, we were more than just fierce competitors. We pushed each other, challenged each other, and learned from each other.
“Kyle, your passion, determination, and love for your family inspired everyone who knew you. No trophy, championship, or accomplishment could ever measure the impact you had on my life and on so many others.
“I will forever be grateful for the memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the brotherhood we shared. My heart is broken, but I know your spirit will always ride with me.
“Rest easy, little brother.”
Within minutes, Busch’s comments were flooded with shows of support from across the racing world. Hopefully, sharing his thoughts with the world just help the 47-year-old take another step toward finding closure following an unimaginable loss.
